Safeguarding in Schools



The Department for Education (DFE) published new Statutory Guidance on Keeping Children Safe in Education on 26th March 2015. This statutory guidance is for:


  • Head teachers, teachers and education staff

  • Governing bodies and proprietors

     

    It relates to: 

  • maintained schools and colleges

  • independent schools

  • academies schools

  • free schools

  • alternative provision academies and free schools

  • pupil referral units

  • further education colleges

  • sixth-form colleges

 

It sets out what schools and colleges must do to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people under the age of 18.

 

Keeping children safe in education 2015 includes information for all school and college staff. WSCB recommends that this is distributed to all staff in schools, colleges and other educational establishments.

The Wokingham Schools Hub site which replaces the old Wokingham Schools Learning Community webpages and the Wokingham UniServity Learning Platform Hub also has information regarding safeguarding for schools and training courses.

Login details for the new site have been sent to school bursars.  These allow access to particular content including a Shared Documents area and pages related to specific Traded Services.
